Riding the powerfully blissful wave of gratitude.

During yoga class today, our teacher asked, “What are you grateful for?”A simple question but for some reason this time I inhaled a sweet breath that came with the message, “this moment.” The entire day, I continued to live open to seeing and feeling this overfilling sensation. At this time of ThanksGiving, may every moment, EVERY moment, be filled with sweet gratitude for you.

Surround yourself with people that allow your perfect, strong, intelligent, joyous nature to emerge.

I’ve had the experience of understanding that some people are just simply not right for me. After being close with a friend for eight years, unfortunately over the past two years we have driven apart. We recently came to a point where we found it difficult to even hold a conversation. More sadly, I could feel that there was tension between us because I no longer fulfilled the role of the inferior friend. After several more attempts of spending time with each other, I understood it was time to let our friendship go.

I learned a really important lesson over this period of our friendship. It is that if you have a friend, a relationship, an environment that tests or contradicts your excellence, I strongly believe it is best to create space away from this surrounding. Choose to encircle yourself with the type of people that challenge you, make you better, and demand your finest. Only this way, will your authentic, strong, joyous self emerge. Only this way will you easily, with fewer struggles, be able to lay down the stepping stones you’ll need in order to reach and hopefully surpass your potential. .

As simply stated by Yogi Bhajan:
“Excellence, elegance and grace are the three elements of a human being. If somebody challenges these three in you, avoid that person.”

You are the navigator who can choose what type of journey you will make in life.

Life is really beautiful, if you choose it to be. If you seek beauty in life, that is what you’ll find, if you seek pain, hardship, that is also what you’ll get. You are navigator of your ship and only you can decide what type of journey you will go on. It’s what you surround yourself with - the artifacts, books, people, places, and thoughts that create your reality or the journey that you will be taking in life. Pause, and really ask yourself, “How do I see the world?”

You’re answer should serve as an indicator of the reality you’ve chosen to construct for yourself. Remember, if you see the world as filled with selfish people, somewhere along the line you made the decision to surround yourself with those types of individuals. There was a time when I held that belief, but today I have chosen a different one. I fully believe that every human being has a kind, altruistic nature. Today, I live in this understanding and fully experience this as my own reality. Remember you are the navigator who can choose what type of journey you will make in life.
